Problems viewing Panopto/Aston Replay videos in Blackboard Learn

In Blackboard Learn, you may see a Blackboard Login screen where you would expect to see an embedded Panopto/Aston Replay video.

This is down to a change in how the latest versions of Chromium based web browsers (eg Google Chrome/Microsoft Edge) handle cookies.

If you are not logged into Panopto/Replay at the time you try to view the embedded video, the automatic login will fail.

Workaround

Log in to Panopto/Replay first.

1. Open a new tab in your browser
2. Go to replay.aston.ac.uk
3. Follow the steps to log in
4. Go back to the tab in Blackboard
5. Click the refresh button in your browser
6. Navigate back to the page containing the embedded video.
